I started by forking a
project I was using to learn GameMaker. There, I've implemented rudimentary item getting and pushing. Collisions come for for free.
The problem is, I used Zelda sprites in that project. I spent this evening creating new sprites to replace them. (I looked at bunch of free sprite sheets before starting the jam, and I didn't like any of them for this project.) Even with keeping it rough and living with a terrible animation, I still haven't replaced all of the sprites.
Still, I think I'll get there by tomorrow afternoon (I have a meeting and some work to do in the morning), then I can be on my way with no more detours, right?
This is the most time I've spent with Aseprite. It's good!
